Full description

The Czech Centre for Phenogenomics (CCP) at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences invites applications for the position of Head of the Transgenic and Archiving Module (TAM). This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and ambitious scientist to lead one of CCP’s core service and scientific platforms. TAM is a key component of CCP’s model generation pillar and is responsible for the generation of genetically modified mouse and rat models, genotyping, cryopreservation, archiving, and related model delivery workflows supporting advanced biomedical research.

The successful candidate will provide scientific, strategic, and operational leadership of TAM and will play a central role in shaping the next phase of CCP’s development. The position is designed for a senior scientist who combines strong technical expertise with leadership capacity, strategic vision, and a commitment to high-quality research infrastructure and service delivery.

Key responsibilities include developing the long‑term scientific vision and strategic roadmap for TAM, leading the scientific, technological, and operational development of TAM, overseeing high‑quality service delivery in rodent model generation, genotyping, cryopreservation, archiving, and associated workflows, managing and mentoring staff, promoting innovation in genome engineering technologies, and representing TAM in interactions with academic users, collaborators, service partners, and international research infrastructure networks.

Candidate profile

PhD or equivalent in genetics, molecular biology, developmental biology, biomedicine, veterinary medicine, or a related field; proven experience in genome engineering, transgenic technologies, and rodent model generation; strong expertise in mouse genetics and molecular biology; experience with rat models is an advantage; demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate a team; excellent communication skills in English.

Requirements

Eligibility to work with laboratory animals and awareness of relevant ethical, regulatory, and quality standards; experience with scientific publishing, international collaboration, or user‑oriented research infrastructure services is an advantage.

We offer a senior scientific leadership position within a nationally and internationally recognised large research infrastructure, a highly international, collaborative, and stimulating working environment, access to advanced technologies and state‑of‑the‑art research infrastructure, and support for professional growth and participation in national and international collaborations. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, together with an employee benefits package.
